AARP Free Tax Help

Get Your Taxes Done for Free

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide sites are re-opening at limited sites in Nebraska.

Omaha, NE — You have taxes to file before July 15, 2020, but do-it-yourself software can be confusing — and some paid tax preparation services cost money you might not be able to spend. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide can help.

Beginning June 15 and continuing through July 15, AARP Foundation is providing tax assistance and return preparation through its Tax-Aide program — and it’s completely free.

The program has been modified to meet Health Department Guidelines.  You must call for an appointment to meet with our trained volunteers.  Call (402) 739-9889 to see if volunteers can assist you in preparing your return.  Appointments may be available at Bellevue Volunteer Firefighter’s Hall in Bellevue or Tangier Shrine Building in Omaha.  No other sites previously staffed will reopen.  You must wear a mask to meet with volunteer preparers.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest volunteer-run free tax preparation service. Volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year to ensure they understand the latest changes to the U.S. Tax Code.

Taxpayers who used AARP Foundation Tax-Aide in 2019 received $1.6 billion in income tax refunds and more than $200 million in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITCs). They also avoided any tax preparation fees and pitches for high-interest tax credit or refund loans. The program is offered in conjunction with the IRS, and AARP membership is not required.
