Biography

Ann Birch began her employment with the City of La Vista in 2004; previously worked for the City of Bellevue as Planning Director from 1985 to 2001 and the City of Council Bluffs as Project Planner from 1978 to 1985.  She completed the Urban Studies program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1978

Responsibilities:

• Provide information on land use applications, ordinances, codes and plans to architects, engineers, developers, contractors, owners, and interested persons.
• Review development application and construction plans to assure compliance with city codes and ordinances

• Perform construction inspections for new construction, alterations, renovations, and repairs of all buildings within the city limits and the extraterritorial jurisdiction to ensure compliance with city codes.
• Perform final inspections for a certificate of occupancy.
• Assign street names and addresses.
• Administer and interpret the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations, Comprehensive Plan, Park Master Plan, and Building Codes.
• Provide staff assistance to the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
• Identify municipal code violations, inform citizens and take appropriate action to enforce the codes.
