The Youth Police Academy (YPA) is designed to provide middle school students a better understanding of law enforcement practices. The academy introduces participants to the field of law enforcement and provides an opportunity for youth and police officers to connect. Students attend a mock police academy involving lectures, role-playing, topical demonstrations and team-building exercises.

The Academy includes structured activities designed to highlight the four cardinal work principles of teamwork, leadership, communication and problem solving/conflict resolution. There is NO COST to students who wish to attend the academy. Class size is limited to 20 participants. Lunch and t-shirt provided. Topics include: How to Become a Police Officer, SWAT, CSI, K9, Juvenile Justice Center, 911 Call Center, CPR, Team-building exercises, Stop the Bleed Training, and other interactive learning activities oriented around law enforcement.
