Join us for a special presentation and storytime by Dr. Amy Forss. Dr. Forss is Metropolitan Community College’s History program chair and Social Sciences department co-representative. She wrote the book Black Print with a White Carnation: Mildred Brown and the Omaha Star Newspaper, 1938-1989 as well as its children's version Newspapers & Butter Pecan Ice Cream: Mrs. Mildred Brown and the Omaha Star. During her presentation she will share the story of Mildred Brown who founded of the first black newspaper in Omaha, the Omaha Star Newspaper. This presentation is a great way to celebrate Black History Month as well as learn about some local history of the Civil Rights movement. We hope you and your family can join us!
STEAM Club - Wednesday, February 1 - 4 p.m.
Get ready to for some building! STEAM club will be construction balanced sculptures this month as their activity. A great activity for children ages 8+ or their younger siblings with parental help.
Homeschool Program - Thursday, February 2 - 2 p.m.
Homeschool families can join Ms. Rachel at the La Vista Community Center for a FREE open gym hour. Play some games and get in your daily exercise! Homeschool students of all ages are welcome.
Creative Hands: Sensory Stations - Friday, February 3 - 10 a.m.
Creative Hands programs are great for helping children build fine motor skills, sensory development and socialization skills. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate with their children in activities. This Friday we will be playing with sensory stations. From kinetic sand to fun toys your little one will love it.
Winter Read: Fantasy Feast and Trivia! - Monday, February 6 - 4 p.m.
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe Book Club is meeting again to discuss chapters 5-9 of the book. As our activity we are going to be having a fantasy feast with some of the foods from the book and playing some trivia!

STEAM Club - Wednesday, February 1 - 4 p.m.
STEAM Club is a monthly program that occurs afterschool. Explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math with us as we do fun experiments and activities. This month we are going to be making balancing sculptures. Ages 8+
Read Aloud Hour - Tuesday, February 14 & 28- 4 p.m.
Tweens can come to this casual book club where a librarian reads aloud from a chapter book for an hour. During the reading have snacks, color, or work on homework. To start we are going to be reading The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull and having Valentine chocolates and popcorn. Read Aloud Hour will be every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Ages 8-12
Teen Advisory Board Meeting - Thursday, February 23 - 5 p.m.
TAB will be meeting to talk about plans or spring. Game night will follow at 5:30 p.m.. Ages 12-18 ONLY

Coffee, Coloring, & Crosswords - Saturday, February 4 - 10 a.m.
Come de-stress, color, and visit with others in this program for adults and older teens. Ages 16+
Crafter Dark - Thursday, February 16 - 6 p.m.
Adults are invited to the library for a night of arts and crafts just for them. Leave the kids at home and enjoy some time just for yourself. Ages 18+
Fly-Tying with the Nebraska Cornhusker Fly Fishers - Thursday Nights - 6-8 p.m.
The Nebraska Cornhusker Fly Fishers meet at the library Thursday nights to make fly lures. Come learn how to do one with them! They have supplies for new fishers, but you can bring your own as well if you would like.
Tips and Tricks Watercolor Classes - Saturday, February 4 & 18 - 1 p.m.
Register for a free water color class with local artist Cathy Placzek. Both beginner and experienced artists are welcome. During this workshop class you will get tips on how to improve your art plus learn new techniques for watercolor painting. Registration is required. Space is Limited.
Genealogy with GOGS - Sunday, February 26 - 1:30 p.m.
Every month the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society offers a free educational class on genealogy research. This month the group will be covering software and website resources. So start tracing your family tree today and come! No need registration needed.
