Summer Reading begins June 1

Summer Reading 2023 is June 1-July 31 at the La Vista Public Library

We're Celebrating Community Heroes

This summer, the La Vista Public Library is celebrating all the hometown heroes in our community during summer reading. We invite you to spread the love and thank all the people who help you, whether that's your parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, nurses, neighborhood police officers, local firefighters or any other helpers.

The Library has a variety of summer reading events, camps and activities planned to celebrate community heroes. Find all the details on the Summer Reading Page.

Reading Logs

Registration for Summer Reading opens June 1.

Paper reading logs can be picked up from the library. Readers (or their guardians) must have an active library card to participate. After completing the reading challenges, bring your paper reading log back to the library for a prize.

All reading logs must be returned by July 31.

Prizes

Prize #1 - After finishing the first reading log you can bring it back to the library for a small prize and 2 drawing tickets. Tickets can be used to enter our grand prize drawing. If you want to keep reading you can get a second reading log.

Prize #2 - If you finish the second reading log you get a slightly larger prize bag and 3 drawing tickets to enter our grand prize drawing. This is the last reading log for you to complete for prizes.

Grand Prize Baskets - At the end of the summer we will draw the winners for the grand prize baskets. The 12 baskets will be on display throughout the summer at the Library. There will be items of interest for every age in the baskets, so children, teens and adults are all invited to read for the chance to win one.

If you earn drawing tickets from the reading, you get to choose which basket you want to try and win! Readers are welcome to put their tickets in the drawing for whatever basket(s) they want, but know that a single person cannot win more than one basket. Caregivers with multiple children need to make sure to write each child's name down on that child's tickets, otherwise we may assume it is the same person.
