2025 Park Improvements

The City of La Vista has 16 parks, 28 sports fields, 4 trails, and 178 park acres. Our parks range from small neighborhood parks to large community parks. Below you will find our current park improvement projects.

Sports Complex, PROJECT COMPLETE

$950,000 was included in the City’s Capital Improvement Program for  FY25 CIP. The new LED field lights will consist of 26 galvanized steel poles with up to 1200 luminaires. The lights have BallTracker technology, optimizing visibility of the ball in play. In addition, the LED lights have a 25 year warranty program that will eliminate 100% of maintenance costs for 25 years.

Construction will begin November 2024 and is expected to be completed Spring 2025.

Central Park Lights, PROJECT COMPLETE

$607,000 was included in the City's Capital Improvement Program for FY25 for the construction of light fixtures throughout Central Park and Central Park East, including around the pond and lake, down the trails as well as near the tennis courts and new shelter/bathrooms. These lights will help improve safety and ensure that park-goers feel secure during all hours of the day and night. 

Central Park East, Estimated Completion Fall 2025

$300,000 was included in the City’s Capital Improvement Program for FY25 for the construction of the Reflection Plaza memorial. The Reflection Plaza will be located at the entrance to Central Park East on Lillian Plaza and serve as a tranquil location for residents and visitors to reflect and commemorate veterans, first responders, and the citizens of La Vista.

Ground breaking took place October 10, 2024. This project is expected to go to out for bid in February 2025 with construction beginning Spring 2025 and an anticipated completion in Fall 2025.

Triangle Park, Estimated Completion November 2025 

$15,000 was included in the Parks operating budget for FY25 to pour an ADA compliant sidewalk to connect the park to the existing pedestrian sidewalk.

Construction will take place between April – November 2025 and is included in a larger concrete pour project with the City.

Children’s Park, Estimated Completion November 2025 

$12,000 was included in the Parks operating budget for FY25 to pour an ADA compliant sidewalk to connect the park to the existing pedestrian sidewalk.

City Park, Estimated Completion Fall 2026

$300,000 was included in the City’s Capital Improvement Program for FY25 for the renovation of lower City Park playground. A survey will go out to local residents living within ¼ mile radius of the park. Staff will then engage the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee to plan and design the playground with resident feedback and constraints of the site in mind.
